Purrsuasion Cat Cafe is currently on track be open late in 2026. The historic home that that will house Purrsuasion is currently undergoing a major renovation in order to provide the best guest and feline experience. Although we are excited to open, modernizing a historical home requires patience and planning in order to preserve the beauty of the home while modernizing it for its future use.

We are sourcing hand-painted artisanal ceramics and period-correct wallpapers, molding, and motifs that reflect the Austen Regency period and its high-society textures of 1815.

In addition to the beautiful interior design updates, Purrsuasion will have a separate HVAC system installed in the home we share with Gandy Coffee House in order to ensure there is no air exchange between us and our neighbor Gandy Coffee House. The house will also undergo updates to the fire alarm and electrical systems in order to provide our cats with a safest environment possible.

We limit the number of our reservations in order to maintain a stress-free environment for our cats while providing a memorable experience for our guests.

Our daily number of cats can average from 5-8 cats depending on pending adoptions. You can see our available cats by visiting our “Meet our Cats” page.

Our historic home has limited parking, but we are located just a few blocks from business district and within the Historic Downtown District.

Parking is available at the Chatham County Courthouse public parking (9 Hillsboro Street), the County lot, and the Courthouse Annex off Sanford Road. On street parking is available (but limited) on the street in the Pittsboro business district, north, south, east, and west of the Historic Courthouse.

The Town of Pittsboro is currently undergoing a Downtown Streetscape Project to improve the downtown district for visitors.

Enter our Purrsuasion waiting room where our host will check you in for your reservation. All guests are required to sign our Purrsuasion Liability Waiver and agree to our Cat Cafe Policy before they will be allowed into the cat lounge.

While you wait, you can browse our gift shop and purchase treats to give the Purrsuasion cats (limited daily).

Once you are checked in, you will step inside a Jane Austen inspired Regency era experience, a peaceful space where shelter cats can find their forever home. The cost of your visit includes a beverage and helps support our adoptable cats. Feel free to enjoy your drink while visiting our cats or take it with you after your visit. We also have a small library of Jane Austen novels for you to enjoy during your visit.

Each reservation includes a 50-minute visit. You may book additional hours back-to-back, but we do ask our visitors to leave during the 10-minute period between reservation bookings so our cats have a chance to decompress and our hosts can sanitize and care for our feline companions.

Whether you just want to visit and spend an hour of quiet companionship with our Purrsuasion cats or are looking for your purrfect feline match, we welcome you to enjoy a quiet moment of peace and companionship.

Our adoptable cats are from local shelters and sanctuaries, and are well cared for and showcased in loving, clean, and stress-free surroundings.

Even if you are not intending to adopt, know every time you visit you help our cats learn socialization skills and build trust in human companionship.

Your visit and purchases from our gift shop supports the cost of feline care and keeps our adoption lounge operating. Every cat we take relieves stress on local animal shelters and sanctuaries by reducing overcrowding.

Our unique partnerships with our local non-profit organization, Java Bean Collective, Inc., provides care for our cafe cats and provides necessary resources for animal rescue efforts, spay and neuter initiatives, and a future sanctuary fund.

To ensure a harmonious environment for our cats and guests alike, we invite visitors aged seven years and older to enjoy the lounge. We require one accompanying adult for every child in attendance. We appreciate your commitment to maintaining a safe and serene atmosphere for our felines .

Purrsuasion is a sanctuary dedicated exclusively to the well-being of our permanent feline residents. To ensure the safety, health, and serenity of our lounge, we do not allow outside animals of any kind within the Purrsuasion Cat Lounge. We appreciate your understanding in helping us maintain a peaceful environment for our cats as they await their next chapter.

While we hold the highest regard for the vital work of Service Animals, Purrsuasion is a free-roaming feline habitat designed as a sanctuary for our residents. Because the presence of an outside animal—regardless of their noble training—may cause significant distress or a 'fundamental alteration' to the social harmony of our cats, access to the lounge may be restricted to ensure the safety of all inhabitants. We invite guests with service companions to contact our Curators in advance so we may discuss how to best accommodate your visit within our cafe viewing areas.”
