THE HISTORIC

CAPTAIN JAMES F. ALSTON

HOUSE

Our cafe is nestled within a true architectural treasure: the Historic Captain James F. Alston House. This stunning 19th-century Victorian home, located just a few blocks from Pittsboro’s Main Street, has found a new purpose in its old age. We've thoughtfully restored the first floor's three rooms, embracing the home’s original design with its distinct drawing rooms and parlors.

This layout, which was integral to Victorian social life, proved perfect for creating a warm and welcoming space for both our human and feline guests. We've honored the home's history while ensuring every detail balances historic preservation with modern cat welfare. The result is a place that feels like a cozy, elegant home—and is a temporary haven for our cats until they find their forever families. Our drawing room design and decor was inspired by Jane Austen and the regency period, allowing our guests an to experience leisure and simplicity in an elegant surrounding amidst the noise of our modern world.

We are proud to share this building with our partners at Gandy Coffee House (opening in 2026). Together, we’re committed to restoring this historic structure of the Alston house and giving it a vibrant new life as a community space for both people and cats.
