THE HISTORIC CAPTAIN JAMES F. ALSTON HOUSE
Pittsboro’s Historic Captain J.F. Alston house before it began its restoration in summer of 2025.
The Purrsuasion Cat Cafe is located inside the Historic Captain James F. Alston House. This stunning 19th-century Victorian Queen Anne home, located just a few blocks from Pittsboro’s Main Street, has found a new purpose in its old age. We've thoughtfully restored the first floor's three rooms to create an inviting cat cafe, embracing the home’s original design with its distinct drawing rooms and parlors.
This historic home provides a welcoming space for both our human and feline guests. We've honored the home's history while ensuring every detail balances historic preservation with modern cat welfare. The result is a place that feels like a cozy, elegant home—and is a temporary haven for our cats until they find their furrever families.
Purrsuasion Cat Cafe was inspired by Jane Austen and the regency period, allowing our guests an to experience leisure and simplicity in an elegant surrounding away from the noise of our modern world.
We are proud to share this building with Gandy Coffee House (opening in late 2026). Together, we’re committed to restoring this historic structure of the Captain J. F. Alston house and giving it a vibrant new life as a community space for both people and cats.
